2010 BMC Speedfox

For the next season BMC will be making a clear distinction between the 120 mm and 140 mm travel bikes with the addition of the Speedfox. While the Trailfox will remain as a 140 mm travel frame the Speedfox will take on the marathon race market with 120 mm of travel. As per the TF02 and TF03 of 2009. Offered in Australia as an SF01 frameset in Black and green and SF02 complete bike in red.

2010 BMC SL01 Roadracer

Sporting Sram Rival and Easton Vista wheels the next season Roadracer will be a lot lighter. Rumor has it a carbon fork with a tapered steerer but the studio pic doesn't look like it. Will have to see the demo bikes and a few weeks to be sure. The new colour is more along the lines of the previous generation SSX and there is another colour that probably wont be seen down under. With a RRP of about $3550 to go with the new lower weight it should also be a popular model.

2010 BMC SSX Streetfire

With a few component changes and a revised colour scheme the SSX Streetfire from BMC remains largely unchanged for the coming season. And with an estimated price of around $2275 it will be as popular as ever in the Australian market place. With plenty of BMC signature features it will be noticed well ahead of other brands on the streets.

Well the cat is out of the bag now.

The new flagship now has its own fork and seatpost incorporating 'TCC' or tuned compliance concept. The fork is an all new BMC specific product that has a tapered steerer and weighs in at 315 gms.

We are taking pre-orders now and offer very attractive prices on component packages for those who chose to place an early order. 2010 BMC Pre orders now being taken.

I have just had a sneak peak at the new range from BMC for the coming season.
Having taken my first deposit for a new Racemaster I thought I might as well open up for pre orders for local customers.
Yes I have some early photo's and no I can't show them as I am sworn to secrecy.
After a slow start the SLX01 is the flavor of choice now and the updates for the new model are sure to see this bike sell out in record time.
The SL01 get's even more of a revamp and a super price point.
And there is also a completely new model. That's all I am saying right now. Don't want get into trouble.

More on the MTB range later.

Our price is $995.00 and comes in 50 ,53 ,55 ,57 and 60 cm frame sizes.
On the floor and ready to ride away.

JJ Special

Here is nice old JJ Special track bike bought in by a customer Steve who is looking to move it on. Lugged frame with hand painted artwork and the name Terry Walmsley on the top tube.
Campy pista cranks and headset. Pre NJS Dura-ace hubs laced to Wolber 28h super competition tubular rims, tied and soldered. Cinelli bar and a leather ISCA saddle. Fork is not original and the stem and post could do with replacing to something more fitting but at $950 It is a nice period example.

Old Scrapper

So I was down at the waste transfer station in Moonee Ponds dumping boxes at the re-cycle bin.
And there was some guys emptying a big trailer into the steel bin. I grabbed this old 1 star from them befor it went.
Must be late 40's - early 50's.
What to do,, what to do,,

Project Cecil Walker

Great old frame and wheelset I picked up through the shop.
Cliff dropped in this old Cecil Walker path racer frame some time ago and I was always on the lookout for some parts to suit. Found this great set of Fiamme rims laced to a set of red Airlite hubs from Steve in Yarra Junction. 36 hole front, 40 hole rear, tied and soldered about 40 years ago. As you can see in the pics they have seen plenty of glue in their lifetime.
The frame has some pretty cool lugs and fork crown to suit. No resto on this one, more of a rat bike I think.

My new CX01 Crossmachine

Well I went and got myself one.
Yep it's a full carbon cyclocross bike from BMC. More or less a Team Machine for the bush.
Same basic spec as the CX02 which is 105 compact gear but I have added Dura-ace shifters and have a nice set of Fulcrum racing 3's to go in also.
After riding the CX02 at demo day I knew this was the bike for me.
At a retail of about $3700 thaey are awesome value.
I can't wait to get out in the mud.

Plug Component re-shuffle

Bit of  a semi-custom Plug for Russell.
You see his girl has a Freestyler and they can't be a fully matching pair now.
So all the gear off a Plug Racer onto a Freestyler gives you this sweet little one.

Forward Components Eccentric Bottom bracket install Part 2.

The BMC TE02 hardtail cross country frame comes standard with a 73mm shell width bottom bracket. The Forward Components unit is only suitable to be fitted to a standard 68mm shell so the BMC had to be faced down to correct size. I used a Cyclus tools bottom bracket facer.
The tool worked well enough but got some serious chatter going so the faces had to be hand finished to get nice and flat. Didn't take too long and with some patience and Inox it all came out well. With a 68mm bb this would not be necessary.

Next up, trimming the granny ring bosses off an XT crank.

Forward Components Eccentric Bottom bracket install

On friday we fitted and new Forward component eccentric bottom bracket assembly to Justin's BMC TE02 single speed race bike. This is a bit of a short diary of the process. As with all friday afternoon's it was interrupted by a steady flow of customers so I didn't get to photograph everything.
First is the BB unit itself.
Extremely well machined from stainless steel and 6061 alloy with Enduro bearings. Threads were particularly nice and as pointed out by Eric the man behind Forward Components, are ever so slightly over-size to make for a perfect fit. 6 hardened steel grub-screws are located radially to lock the outer alloy adjuster ring at the desired chain tension. 3 Alloy spacers are included to allow for proper crank spacing. I also made use of my shim kit for fine tuning.

Next up, facing the BMC TE02 73mm shell bottom bracket down to 68mm

Cube Reaction 2009 preview

Here is a sneak peak at what the German brand Cube will be offering in '09. The Reaction hardtail is all new with Shimano's internal bottom bracket and full XT build. Also incorporating the Fox/Shimano fork control system. Will be available in racing red and black anodized late Feb-early March.
Pre orders will be commencing soon with attractive packages available to early birds.

'09 KHS Flite 100 Fixie

Now in stock is the new 2009 KHS flite 100. Very little change from 08 with a neat gloss white colour instead of the grunge flat black. Same double butted Reynolds tube set making it quite light weight. Cast crown fork with a 1 inch steerer and a-head headset. Huge amount of headset spacers so the bar can be dropped quite a lot. Bar, post and stem are generic black and base model San Marco Ponza saddle. New touches are the gold anodized alloy track cog and machined chainring. These 2 changes make for a much quieter drivetrain. Chain now has a removable link so it can be taken off and cleaned. Weinman rims and Kenda tyres on flip-flop hubset in all black.
All up a good package especially if you are looking at doind a bit of customizing later on.
RRP is $850. and comes in 50, 53, 55, 57 and 60cm sizes. These are selling fast and some sizes are already sold out completely.
Call the shop for more info.

BMC Demo day 17th and 18th of Jan.

Feel like a blast on one of the new 2009 BMC range? Come on over to Lysterfield park where all of the BMC 2009 models will be available to test ride. From the TF04 right through to the New TF01 trailfox and the 160mm travel supertrail. Roadies wont be left out with the entire road range on show also.
My tips to get on board are the FS02 fourstroke and the supertrail in the mountain range and the CX02 cyclocross bike in the road range. Never had so much fun as I did on the CX02.
Bring your shoes, helmet and pedals and some I.D.
Some rides will be very popular so if you want to get on one at a particular time call me at the shop on 03 90255494.
We will be set-up at Trailmix at Lysterfield park from 8am till 6 PM.
Enter via the Horswood Rd. entrance near the dam.
Be there...
